Shadow was discovered roaming the streets in distress. His entire body was almost hairless & he suffered chronic Demodex Mange as well as chronic secondary infections.

Shadow could not be touched even though his rescuer spent time reading to him at the vet during his recovery & bringing him roast chicken to win him over.

Even though Shadow had a previous owner who abandoned him when he got sick, he still spent a lot of his years free roaming the streets of Indonesia.  He didn’t handle being confined in a large maternity kennel space at the vet & would voice his discomfort.  The vet was unable to house Shadow any longer & so his rescuer had to bring him home to continue his medications.

When Shadow set foot into his new temporary home, he decided he wanted to stay.  After full rehabilitation, Shadow became a fiercely loyal dog to his rescuer & nobody else could touch him.

Shadow even experienced negative & cruel behavior towards him at his foster home from people outside. They would taunt him at the front gate, throw rocks at him & people even tried to kick him while on their scooters during free, scheduled, observed walks.

Shadow has spent the last 4 months in a training/boarding facility to receive positive reinforcement to change a few behavioral issues.  His rescuer is happy to report he’s doing extremely well, can be touched by others now & is 80% on the way to being adoptable.

Shadow would suit a family with teenagers & firm yet understanding owners. His trauma is people & how they treat him.  If someone shows him negative behavior, he doesn’t forget.  He is not aggressive but will give a warning if he is displeased. Otherwise, he’s a pure gentleman by heart.
